{"id":720,"date":"2018-04-10T05:31:51","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T05:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/trustedagedcare.com.au\/?p=720"},"modified":"2018-04-10T05:31:51","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T05:31:51","slug":"3-top-questions-when-entering-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trustedagedcare.com.au\/newsite\/2018\/04\/10\/3-top-questions-when-entering-care\/","title":{"rendered":"3 Top Questions when entering care&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I meet with a lot of clients and their families when the need for care arises and there&#8217;s always three top questions that are asked when moving to a residential aged care facility.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What do I need to do to enter a facility?<\/li>\n<li>How do I find a service?<\/li>\n<li>How will I fund it?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So let&#8217;s see if we can quickly run through the answers to those&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do I need to do to enter?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aprroval is the first step required and an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) member (ACAS in VIC) must conduct a health check to determine eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>You can request\u00a0 an assessment via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myagedcare.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">myagedcare.gov.au<\/a> or by calling 1800 200 422.\u00a0 There can be a waiting period after approval for home care services.\u00a0 And, if your circumstances change, another assessment may be required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Finding a service<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You are able to utilise aged care placement providers (such as ourselves) or you can visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myagedcare.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Aged Care<\/a>\u00a0to find a suitable facility.\u00a0 Once assessed as eligible, you are able to visit various facilities to find their suitability or if wait times apply.\u00a0 Some even like to arrange a couple of weeks respite care to &#8216;try before you buy.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organising finances<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Usually, you are required to pay a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) plus a basic daily fee (which is 85% of the basic single Age Pension.)\u00a0 A means-tested fee may also apply depending on your income and assets.\u00a0 If you&#8217;d like extra options, an additional services fee may also apply.\u00a0 Getting accurate figures can be done with the assistance of an adviser qualified to provide Aged Care Advice.<\/p>\n<p>Some are able to sell the family home to fully or partially fund the RAD, others choose to pay a daily amount in leiu of a lump sum payment.\u00a0 This is still in addition to the daily fee and means tested fee.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, it can be a complex area and tricky to navigate.\u00a0\u00a0We&#8217;d love to help!\u00a0 Call 07 5593 0855 to arrange an appointment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I meet with a lot of clients and their families when the need for care arises and there&#8217;s always three top questions that are asked when moving to a residential aged care facility.
