{"id":844,"date":"2020-08-03T04:52:37","date_gmt":"2020-08-03T04:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trustedagedcare.com.au\/?p=844"},"modified":"2020-08-03T04:52:37","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T04:52:37","slug":"national-trauma-centre-deployed-to-vic-as-aged-care-crisis-worsens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trustedagedcare.com.au\/newsite\/2020\/08\/03\/national-trauma-centre-deployed-to-vic-as-aged-care-crisis-worsens\/","title":{"rendered":"National trauma centre deployed to Vic as aged care crisis worsens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Medical teams from the national trauma centre have been deployed to Victoria to deal with the Melbourne\u2019s worsening aged care crisis. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">The medical teams which are usually reserved for the worst humanitarian disasters will be joined by nurses from across Australia to provide the much needed relief to the health sector. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has cancelled all but the most urgent elective surgeries as private hospitals have had to repurpose their entire wards to cope with the increasing demand for resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">So far there are 769 confirmed cases across 80 Victorian aged care facilities, including St Basil\u2019s home in Fawkner, which has more than 80 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus alone. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">As the system struggles to deal with the worsening situation, family members of residents\u2019 have described this pandemic crisis as \u201ca nightmare\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe support we\u2019ve had, well I guess it\u2019s been sporadic.
