The revamped Villa Serena offered a lovely breakfast to local Aged Care specialist advisors to introduce us to their new look and facilities.  Allity Aged Care offer a network of 45 homes across Australia, but Villa Serena is their only home on the Gold Coast.

General Manager Sue Falzon took us through a little of the history of the property and how things have changed over the past two years under the brand Allity.

Villa Serena is a unique extra service aged care facility on the corner of Laver and Easthill Drive in Robina, just over the road from the massive Robina Town Centre and surrounding library, hospital, golf course and public transport routes.

The Tuscan style architecture and landscaped gardens are a stand out, reminiscent more of a grand European villa than an ‘old persons’ home.’

Both individuals and couples are catered for with interconnecting rooms and the option of single ensuited rooms to apartment style living.  The home offers all levels of permanent and respite care along with a secure memory support facility for those living with dementia.

Allity staff offer an active community environment, understand that companionship is vital and arranges weekly outings, exercise classes, indoor and outdoor activities, special events and so much more.  Their 1920’s style dress up party and calendar were gorgeous!

Care and Services include registered nurses, 24-hour emergency call system, palliative care, bus transport, hair and beauty along with dining and hospitality and a laundry service, that still includes ironing (unlike many other homes now.)

Turns out, visitors from interstate even enjoy arranging respite care at Villa Serena to escape the coldest months in Melbourne and Sydney winters, but a two-week minimum is required for respite care.  Others use respite as a ‘try before you buy’ option and Allity welcome these guests as well.

It was a little emotional for me doing the tour today, as it’s the first time I’ve been back in residential aged care since my husband’s grandparents passed away three days apart in June.  But, it was also lovely to see the level of care available… I’ll be keeping this one in mind for myself I think…

RADs vary from $450,000 to $800,000 and an extra care fee of $44 per day on top of other daily payments.  Combined RAD and DAP options are also available.
